How to- Speckle Nails (Mini Egg Style)

After Illamasqua released their collection of Speckle nail varnish's, Speckle nails have been everywhere. For Easter, I have decided to take on the challenge of creating my own Mini Egg inspired speckle nails.

 How I did it
1. Paint the nails in a a pastel base colour.
2. Using a dark brown polish... apply, using a cocktail stick, a couple of "speckles"
3. Go over each nail, using the other end of the cocktail stick with a lighter brown polish to create more speckles.
4. I then used a nail art pen available from Claire's accessories to add the odd black speckle to each nail
5.Finally apply a substantial coat of clear nail varnish.

 What did i use?
Due to being on holiday I only had a small selection of nail varnish colours, so I had to  make do with what i had and was forced to mix the majority of the base colours up using white  nail polish.

Base Colours:
•Models Own "Apple Pie"
•MUA "Frozen Yogurt"
•17 Lasting finish "Sherbet Lemon" (I used this as it was)
•Rimmel Pro "25"
•Models Own "Feeling Blue"

Speckles:
•NYC "246 Park Ave"
•Claires accessories- Two way nail pen in Black

Happy Easter!

Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss- Frenzy

I love Illamasqua and I must admit, of the products I have tried, they have never failed to disappoint.
On my recent trip to London I fell in love with their "Intense lip gloss" collection and invested in the shade "Frenzy".

This lipgloss does exactly what it says on the tin... It is no doubt intense! However, the colour when applied to my hand appears with a slight peachy tone in comparison to the rich pink on my lips. The pigment is particularly strong which is great, I know Illamasqua pride themselves on this with their products. The coverage is almost opaque. There is a slight scent when first applied, but I like it... Reminds me of watermelon, however this does fade after a while.

Unlike most lipglosses it doesn't feel sticky or too slimy on the lips. I don't find it a distraction and I also do not find myself reaching for a tissue to take it off...

I have found the durability varies on how I apply it... For example if I apply a light coat, the gloss stays on my lips quite nicely and even when the gloss has worn off, my lips are still left pigmented with the colour.

I am also relieved that it is tasteless, however funny that may sound I often find myself tempted to lick the gloss off or pulling a funny face at the bitterness.

The only factor that I would point out with slight concern would be the design of the tube itself, I personally like a brush or wand when applying lipgloss. This is one of those slanted rubbery ends that feeds the lipgloss through a tiny tube within when squeezed. My only criticism with this design is that unless you apply the gloss to the centre of the lips and work it outwords to the corners with the applicator, it can prove quite tricky to apply. But that is barely anything to worry about taking into account just how great this gloss is.

Illamasqua's intense lipgloss is available in 16 shades at a cost of £14.00 each.

Make Me Up London..

So yesterday i took a trip to London with the girls from my course. Seems as i am new to the whole blogging thing, I thought this is something different to start off with. In London we went to the Illamasqua store, Mac Pro and Charles fox. Yes we spent the entire day in 3 stores. Despite the 4am alarm call, the day was pretty awesome. One thing i learned from the trip was how amazing Kryolan are, Charles Fox literally amazed me. I have never been so stunned by makeup, ever. I highly recommend everyone to check it out.

It was only when i started my Makeup Artistry course i learned that Kryolan wasn't just a brand providing makeup for "face-painting"-as i thought, but provided a massive variety of cosmetic products. I will admit i was a little naughty and bought not 1 but 2 lip glosses and 1 lipstick whilst on the trip but with a one day only discount, who wouldn't? . Illamasqua was also a really good experience, all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. It was very clear they all knew exactly what they were talking about and it was a breath of fresh air to not feel pressured into buying anything. However, I must admit i did feel slightly let down by the Mac Pro store.. Don't get me wrong, what was contained inside still blew me away. But after hearing so much praise for it, i guess i was just expecting something much bigger and better.. despite this, it didn't stop me purchasing another lipstick! Overall the day was amazing. Charles Fox gave us a demonstration on drag makeup, as did Illamasqua on their new speckle eyeliner look. I have come home feeling so inspired but slightly nervous about checking my bank balance. I will be sure to post reviews and pictures of my purchases asap.
