Gold By Giles (Buff Brown) Eye Shadow

I have read a few blogs on the same eyeshadow pallet and to be honest many of them seem pretty negative about this pallet. My mum actually gave me this pallet because she hated it. However, I have quickly warmed to it.

The pallet consists of a quad of shadows. Don't get me wrong, I do admit they don't (as usually in a quad they would) compliment one another very well, but as a shadow, its not bad at all. Especially considering the price tag of £2 (was £3.99). I personally wore the bottom left and right together a few days running. I feel they give a lovely smokey eye and are brilliant for contouring. I love the rustiness of the colours and feel they would look lovely in autumn. They compliment both brown and blue/green eyes which is also a bonus. The shadows are pretty long wearing, and were still noticeable by the end of the day, although a little faded. They are really pigmented which I actually found a slight down fall as I much prefer a subtle look by day.

On the whole, for the sake of £2 this is a lovely little pallet and I would advise anyone to try it out.

Illamasqua Phallic -Nail Varnish

Ok, so admitably, I was leant this nail varnish by a friend. Its not a colour I would usually go for , particularly for my finger nails. But due to the hype over Illamasqua nail varnish I just couldn't resist a try.

The outcome: Personally i feel the "swatch" on Illamasqua's website makes the varnish look much more appealing, however if you look closely enough at the nails, with it on. It is pretty precise. I can only describe the colour in reference to midnight Blue. In shadow, the colour could easily be mistaken for Black, but as soon as the light hits it, the tiny Blue glitter particles transform this colour to be really quite pretty and magical. The varnish was easy to apply and although I applied two coats, it did have pretty much full coverage after one. I am a fan of the Illamasqua brush, but not so much of the square-(ish) lid. I found this pretty difficult to control but that may be due to my tiny fingers.
